About the firm

Since 1974

Nick Romer, a Minnesota tax and aviation attorney, CPA, and commercial pilot, founded Romer & Company in 1974. In the 1990s he passed the firm to Derf Bistodeau. Derf died in 2010. Karen Coon then led the firm, and in December 2023 she sold it to the employees who had been its backbone.

Nick, Derf, and Karen are part of that history. Ann Viviano is CEO and managing shareholder today. The firm is led by the people who work in it.
